We are pleased to share that our latest Build-to-Rent project, Botanic By Sasco, at 176-186 Blaxland Road, Ryde has been shortlisted for the national The Urban Developer Awards across two categories: “Medium Density – Project Of The Year” and “Hotels & Accommodation – Project Of The Year”. Botanic by Sasco, which comprises 37 premium furnished and unfurnished, 1, 2 & 3 bedroom apartments, was entirely leased within a blistering 4 weeks of achieving Occupational Certification and has consistently maintained 100% occupancy rates.
Botanic was several years in planning; with the ideas for this project being conceived during a time of systemic criticism towards the property industry. Situated in the heart of Top Ryde, directly opposite Top Ryde Shopping Centre, we felt this blank canvas was a genuine opportunity to re-build the trust of the community in the industry, by delivering a showpiece, consumer-focused development.
Partnering with nationally renowned architects’ Fender Katsalidis was instrumental in delivering an inspiring design and one of several factors contributing to UKO’s desire to adopt this building as their first ever product in the Build-to-Rent space for conventional apartments, expanding outside of their traditional Co-Living for the first time. This project’s overwhelming take-up (having achieved 100% occupancy within weeks of completion), during a time of increasing vacancy rates amidst an exodus of international students and workers, demonstrates the projects multi-faceted merits and enormous potential for well-planned Build-to-Rent projects in Australia.
Given strong competition from local apartment buildings, we sought to differentiate this offering in as many ways as possible: by introducing a personable on-site UKO host to drive a safe, supported and connected “community” feel plus calendar of social events, a mega 30kw solar system, two EV charging stations, in-built high-speed internet throughout the building complimentary with leases for tenant convenience, efficient and generous internal and external living spaces, study sections in all apartments, extra high ceilings & architectural skylights and an abundance of solar in each apartment. In addition to a well spread mix of bedroom options, a portion of the 37 apartments were offered as “ready to move in” fully furnished apartments (styled by renowned interior designers) to further diversify consumer choice.
We believe the shortlisting of Botanic for The Urban Developer Awards and also significant tenant demand are a testament to our planning, design, and construction excellence, but also, affirms that we are delivering quality communities that are exceeding the expectations of the market. Sasco Developments are planning to continue expanding its Build-to-Rent portfolio, with several projects in the pipeline.
